On November 8, 2018, Director of the State Key Laboratory of Xi'an Jiaotong University and former Party Secretary of Xi'an Jiaotong University, Wang Jianhua, Vice President of Novosibirsk State University, Russia, Aleksey Okunev, and Dean of Xi'an Jiaotong University Shanghai Academy Lei Li went to the Huaqiao International Expo Center to participate in the Autumn Economic and Trade Special Event at the International Innovation Port organized by the Huaqiao government of Kunshan City. During the event, Xi'an Jiaotong University Shanghai Academy signed an agreement with the Russian representatives and the Huaqiao government on the establishment of the Sino-Russian Joint Research and Development Center of Special Motor Technology in Huaqiao. Honored guests presented at the event also included Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Xue Yongzhen, Academician of the Korean National Academy of Sciences, Dean of the 5G Research Center of the Korea Institute of Science and Technology, Han Yongnan, Vice President of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, Zhang Zhaoan, Deputy Secretary of Kunshan Municipal Committee, Acting Mayor Zhou Xudong, Member of the Municipal Party Committee, Minister of Organization , also Secretary of the Party Working Committee of Huaqiao Economic Development Zone, Chen Liyan.
At the beginning of the event, Secretary Wang and Mayor Zhou had a discussion about further strengthening the cooperation between the school and the government, promoting the integration of industry, university and research, and also the integration of the Yangtze River Delta. Secretary Wang said that he would bring more cutting-edge original technological achievements to Kunshan, landing and to be new born in Huaqiao. At the meeting, Aleksey Okunev delivered a speech on behalf of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Novosibirsk State University, proclaiming the beginning of cooperation in advanced technology of special motors among the Xi'an Jiaotong University Shanghai Academy, the Russian team and Huaqiao government.
Then, Professor Viktor Riabykh of Novosibirsk State University, Russia, and Dr. Lei Li, Dean of the Xi'an Jiaotong University Shanghai Academy, signed the agreement on the establishment of the Sino-Russian Joint Research and Development Center of Special Motor Technology with Huaqiao government. The Sino-Russian cooperation project here has entered a new stage.
