On September 1, 2018, Ir Khoo Teck Chong, CEO of MTT Properties&Development in Malaysia, visited the Shanghai Research Institute. The two sides conducted in-depth discussions on matters as the establishment of an international partner university in Penang, Malaysia.
Liang Peng introduced the “Penang International Cooperation University Planning Program” (hereinafter referred to as the “Program”). The program proposes the needs and necessity of setting up an international cooperation university in Penang from the current situation of Malaysian higher education international cooperation. The university's orientation, goals, management model, scale, and cooperation methods have put forward preliminary ideas. Mr. Khoo pointed out that the university's development orientation in the program is in line with the needs of Malaysia and Penang's economic development, and the university will provide more technical talents to Malaysia. At the same time, Khoo communicated with the participants on the enrollment targets, school management model, Malaysian higher education policy and the establishment of university processes.
During the meeting, Mr. Khoo introduced the MTT Group and the BOTANICA.CT project in Penang. Mr. Khoo pointed out that the cooperative university was planned in the BOTANICA.CT project, and gave a detailed introduction to the area of the partner university and the surrounding ecology, commerce, medical care, etc. . Mr. Khoo said that the cooperative university is an ecological “closed loop” of the BOTANICA.CT project and is of great significance to the Penang region.
After the meeting, the results of the exchanges between the two parties were satisfactory, and it is planned to sign a memorandum of cooperation universities.
